The GBMA strongly supports Compliance:
The Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 2589:2007 Gypsum linings – Application and finishing pertains to our industry.
The objective of this standard is to provide manufacturers, designers and users of gypsum linings with requirements for the
application and finishing of such linings in residential and commercial construction applications. This standard provides a reference
for the building industry and specifiers and a basic Standard for adoption in contracts.
The GBMA works to promote the value of plasterboard in many areas including acoustics, energy saving, sustainability, fire ratings, impact resistance.
Sustainability: The GBMA were integrally involved in the three year project by BPIC*, ALCAS* , the CSIRO* in partnership with the Federal Government to provide “Australian” life Cycle Inventory data of building materials to assist Life Cycle practitioners, architects, designers, engineers, builders, developers and regulators to more accurately asses the impact buildings have on the environment. The plasterboard data is now available on www.bpic.asn.au/lci.
